Job Title: Accounting Clerk
Department: Retail
Reports To: Store Manager, Company Controller
General Description Keeps records of financial transactions for establishment by performing the following duties.
Essential Job Functions include the following, other activities may be assigned:
Maintains and compiles accurate records for Barton’s Store Location(s), and effectively communicates and transmits appropriate information to the Home Office Accounting Department.
Responsibilities:
Job Duties must perform the following duties in order to achieve essential job functions, other duties may be assigned:
Verifies, allocates, and posts details of business transactions to subsidiary accounts in journals or computer files from documents such as sales slips, invoices, receipts, check stubs, and computer printouts.
Reconciles and balances accounts.
Computes and mails monthly statements to customers.
Assists with answering incoming telephone calls, determines purpose of callers, and forwards calls to appropriate personnel.

Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a working knowledge of computers, computer databases, and office software.
